Our Beginner classes are similar to Puppy classes in that they start with the basics, but are open to dogs of any age - these classes are ideal for older puppies and rescue dogs that have had little or no previous training.
What will your dog learn?
- Sit, down, stand.
- Stay - useful for safety when out walking and crossing roads, general manners and safety getting out of car in busy places.
- Recall - we will look at improving your recall and some ideas to make your dog more responsive and reliable.
- Leave it - with food.
- Safe play - ensuring the dog understands a drop/give command.
- Lead walking - advice on how to conquer the dog that pulls and lots of practice of this with distractions of other dogs as well as out in the street.
- Handling and grooming exercise.
- Manners at doorway.
Advice will also be given on any specific problems owners are experiencing; this can be included in the class or as a one to one discussion after class.
You are welcome to bring additional handlers to class, including children who would like to be part of the training.

How to book
Please contact us by phone or email to reserve a space on a course - we will need to know your name, address, contact number, email address as well as your dogs name, breed and age. We also need to ensure your dog is happy and friendly around other dogs and people as we cannot take aggressive or very nervous dogs into a class situation. If this is okay we will then ask you to send payment by either cheque or bank transfer to secure your booking - we are able to hold spaces for up to a week pending payment.
Once we have received your payment, we will send you a confirmation pack via email - this includes your booking confirmation, directions to the class venue and a full set of supporting handouts for your course.
